Here was the final clue:
A fellow author called him "A very unique cat - a Frenc Canadian Hinayan Buddhist Beat Catholic savant."Can you dig that? And my fellow Mainer was the only one who didn't know it. Color me embarrassed. I have some work to do in my own state re: Kerouawareness.
