Curation #146 from my Kerouac bookshelf: The Whole Shot: Collected Interviews with Gregory Corso edited by Rick Schober

Item #146 in my Kerouac bookshelf curation project is this softcover (I can't find a year but Amazon lists it as 2015) Tough Poets Press first printing of The Whole Shot: Collected Interviews with Gregory Corso edited by Rick Schober. 202 pages, it measures about 5-3/4" x 8-1/8" and is in very good condition. I don't remember the provenance -- it may have been a review copy.

I had always steered clear of Corso for some reason (well, there is a reason and I won't go there because it's irrational), but my friend Richard gave me a copy of Corso's Mindfield and it became clear to me that Corso was an accomplished poet and member of the Beat Generation who deserves more attention than he typically gets. His insights into poetry, fellow Beats, and the times in which he lived and wrote as collected here make for interesting and instructive reading.

This edition features a foreword by Dick Brukenfeld, an editor's introduction, 13 interviews, and a helpful list of literary figures mentioned in the interviews. An interview that appears in print for the first time is from the video documentary What Happened to Kerouac?

This book certainly qualifies for a space on your Kerouac bookshelf.

Below is a picture of Shelf #5 (last one!) of my Kerouac bookshelf showing the placement of this book (10th from the left that you can see in the picture) on the day I started curating my collection. Next up: Kerouac: His Life and Work (Revised and Updated) by Paul Maher Jr.

  1. Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more
than just your articles? I mean, what you say is
fundamental and all. However think about if you added some great photos or videos to give your posts more, "pop"!
Your content is excellent but with images and clips, this site could undeniably be one of the most beneficial
    in its niche. Excellent blog!
