Here's a clip of Jack appearing on the The Steve Allen Show. The best part: he reads from On The Road with Steve backing him up on piano. Get out your copy and follow along.
Did you ever notice how Jack cheated here, and inserted some of "Visions of Cody" into it? (The "I made a supplication in this dream" bit, for example, but more too...)
So technically, you’d need the two books to be able to follow along... :)
Yes and if you pay close attention, he is reading the END of On The Road with the book open to the beginning! So clearly he had a script he was reading from and was not using the book. All the more reason to insert some other stuff! Good observation, Simon!
Announcing The Daily Beat's first annual beat poetry contest. Send entries to thebeathandbook@gmail.com in the body of an e-mail (no attachments, please). Put Beat Poetry Contest in the subject line and include your name. Entries must be original and not previously published (including on-line). We're looking for poetry that Jack would dig!
Deadline is November 30, 2009. The top three entries will get published here on The Daily Beat, and the winning entry will get a free copy of The Beat Handbook.
